Update: 07/02/2024

The British Red Cross were stood down at 1200 on 07.02.24 as the local authority and utility teams on scene are able to support remaining individuals not yet reconnected to gas.

Most households are now back on gas, and Cadent will remain on site over the weekend to support digitally excluded individuals to claim compensation for the impacts of the outage over the last week.  

Update: 06/02/2024

Severn Trent successfully completed repairs last night, and have been able to get all customers connected back to water supply.

Gas is now also available in all properties, however 622 properties are still awaiting to be seen to due to customers being out. It is expected that there will be a number of complexities, due to water seeping into boilers.

It has been discussed at today’s HAC meeting that Cadent have created an MS Form for customers to be able to claim for compensation for damaged appliances etc. Cadent staff to be offering support in both Ratby & Kirby until Friday 09.02.24.

Update: 05/02/2024

Gas has been mostly resorted to a large amount of residents but there are still some without full access. BRC volunteers have been asked to support with door knocking and welfare checks on affected residents. Please provide the most appropriate support based in individual need should we get calls about this.

Please also encourage Service Users to check the Cadent Gas website for updates on the repairs.

Leicestershire Gas outage updates

Cadent Gas called CRCC on the morning of 30th January regarding a major incident in Leicestershire.  There is no gas supply in Kirby and Ratby and there are vulnerable people that Cadent gas have requested BRC support with to help make contact with through door knocking.

Cadent have said that 2652 customers are impacted.

Cadent gas have set up customer centres in local halls which will be open until 22.00 on 30th, and re-open in the morning of 31st January at 08.00 until 20.00.  There are 2 centres open – one in Ratby and one in Kirby.

30.01.24 – BRC volunteers have been deployed to scene to await further details on locations for door knocking.  BRC volunteers worked in the customer centres and Search & Rescue volunteers carried out door knocking.

CRCC have paged out to volunteers requesting availability for this evening (30th) and tomorrow (31st) as Cadent believe supplies may be out for 48 hours due to water entering the gas pipes.

Local staff are attending TCGs, including the Humanitarian Assistance Cell (HAC) which has set up by the local LRF to support the incident.

31.01.24 – Cadent have requested further support this morning from BRC and CRCC are paging volunteers.
