  • Decide what to do about a safeguarding concern

    Use this tool to decide what to do if you have a safeguarding concern about someone.

    This tool is for operators on the Coronavirus support line, but other Red Cross services may find it useful.

    It usually takes about 3 minutes to use this tool.

  • What you should do
    Call 999

    Either you or the caller

  • Signpost to the relevant support or agency

    Signpost to other services: for example Samaritans or local council Community Hub

  • What you should do

    1. Call Safeguarding Assurance Team
    2. Explain your safeguarding concern to the team
    3. Action any advice given by the team.
    4. Record information from the call
    5. Speak to your supervisor, if the call has affected you

    Warning - Any allegation of abuse or harm against a British Red Cross representative must be reported to the Safeguarding Assurance Team promptly.

  • What you should do
